a circular image of the diameter of 23mm), and the breach and
newfd  versions are equivalent.

and color film (skylight, yellow, orange, red, amber and blue).
There is no focus adjustment, obviously no need.
Lens construction: 11 elements in 8 groups.
Angle: 180 °

FD 14mm 1: 2.8 L newfd
s_19189.jpg A true masterpiece is a distortion-free wide-angle rectilinear projection (such as 17mm
and 20mm), but is much more rare and expensive. I would say, without fear of
contradiction that is among the rarest pieces of the FD system.
There is only newfd type in this lens.

This lens came to me with the front lens scratched. Not lose heart, but began

searching for several months, which allowed me to find a new replacement from
stock in the United States.

At the bottom of this article by Marco Cavina you can find news about this incredible replacement.

on the diagonal.
The breach and newfd versions are the same.
It too comes with 4 filters on wheel (skylight, yellow, orange, red)

FD 17mm 1: 4 SSC
FD 17mm 1: 4 newfd
FD_17_4.jpg
At the time released, it was the shorter focal length on the market.
Combined with excellent contrast, the distortions contained and the
balanced color rendering made the lens a highly desirable objective.
It has a slight vignetting at wider apertures and moderate chromatic
aberration.
The resolution is excellent and uniform center-edge to f11, with
a slight decline in f16 and f22.
Lens construction: 11 lenses in 9 groups, L5-L11 floating.
Angle: 104 °
Diaphragm Blades 6
Minimum distance of focusing: 25cm
Hood: screw in to filter thread for breach version, BW-72 for newfd
version.

FD 20mm 1: 2.8 SSC
FD 20mm 1: 2.8 newfd
FD_20_2.8.jpg
It is a good super wide, has a remarkable uniformity center to edge
and distortions are contained, however, is no better than 17mm,
to pays the price for brighter aperture.
Mechanically breach version is better.
Lens construction: 10 elements in 9 groups, floating.
Angle: 94 degree

Minimum distance of focusing: 25cm

Until you try it you cannot understand. The breach and newfd

while the second has the hood on the first miss.

First release third variant
I wrote much of this masterpiece, in my opinion the best is first version of breach lens with thorium and concave front lens.
The subsequent breach versions to the first are less etched (but not all agree), while the newfd version crappy.
In this table are summarized the versions produced (3 versions, the first of which with 4 variants):
TBL.jpg

Note: Data on both weights are approximate.

The yellowing due to the radioactive decay of thorium, it can be effectively eliminated by exposing the lens to the light of an ultraviolet lamp
(excellent fluorescent ones, called “black light” or “lamps of wood”. The exposure to ultraviolet light it must be prolonged depending on the intensity
and spectral composition of the emitted light. As a guideline, from one to two months continuously.

FD 35mm 1: 2.8 SSC TS
FD_35_2_TS.jpg

The first Canon lens of tilting shift lens (TS stands for Tilt – Shift), with 180 degree

rotation in order to choose the axis on which to perform the movements.
The diaphragm is not automatic and must be used in stop down.
An absolute masterpiece for sharpness, clean and the absence of aberrations,

with a yield of calligraphic detail.

There is only breach mount type.

A special feature of this lens is the form of aperture blades, which in the tip are shaped like a hook so as to create an overlap
in the closing phase that ensures the regularity of the hole without having to use a greater number of blades.

Here the particular shape of the diaphragm:
