Methods

This study used longitudinal data from the PREDIMED study and included 6,874 older adults who were overweight/obese and fuulfilled three criteria for metabolic syndrome. The aim was to examine adherence to the Portfolio and DASH diets and cardiometabolic risk factors.

Key Findings: Increased adherence to the Portfolio diet was associated with lower hemoglobin A1c, fasting glucose, triglycerides, waist circumference, and body mass index.
