The two versions are the same and still astonish for their

Marco Cavina mentioned it is even better than the current

autofocus versions (and he’s right).
This version is more solid, has a diaphragm with nine blades

but lacks bayonet for hood.

Diaphragm: 9 blades.

The absence of lens hood (like the 24mm Aspherical) is

inexplicable, but confirmed both by the original catalogs, and

from the lists. However, producers of accessories of the time

had certainly labored in proposing alternative solutions.

Further proof is curious grooved ring , thought likely to house

a rubber lens hood.

It is definitely not an original accessory, or as usual, would be labeled with a name and a code. Hard to think even for a lens hood to the edge of barrel,

as the barrel is smooth and the minimal extension remains no useful space, not to mention that any accessories could damage the markings identifying

is not acceptable because the class of the objective.

It a lens has dual personality.
It shares the optical scheme with the 100/2 but unlike the latter,

in low light shows low contrast and much, much less defined

image. Under optimal conditions instead exhibits an excellent

contrast and a splendid sharpness.

Used in back light does not even look like the same lens,

so do not use backlighting, for heaven’s sake, it is dramatic,

the decline of the contrast is unacceptable.

The correction of the coma and spherical aberration are rather

great, however suffers so high chromatic aberration.

The two versions in breach and newfd are identical, except

mounting frame.
